Txakoli Mokoroa
Mokoroa txakoli winery was founded in 2008 by Jose Antonio Mokoroa and his family.
Currently his whole family is working to achieve the best possible harvest every year.
Denomination of Origin
Mokoroa txakoli winery is located in Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country. It is situated in Zarautz next to Getaria, where Getariako Txakolina D.O. gets its name.
Getariako Txakolina extends throughout the province of Gipuzkoa. This Denomination of Origin is one of the three, along with Araba and Bizkaia, authorized to produce Txakoli in the Basque Country.
VINEYARDS
Mokoroa owns 6 hectares of vineyards, all trellised and on slopes, facing the Cantabrian sea. Hondarrabi Zuri is the local variety that occupies most of the
vineyards. However, there is also a percentage of Chardonnay. Both are
harvested when they reach the optimal ripening criteria to produce a top
quality Txakoli.
